Privacy Notice — School Product

Effective date: July 12, 2026

This notice covers the school product — students who take the quiz through a school's license, and the counselors and administrators who use the school dashboard. Find Your Major's separate consumer product has its own privacy policy at findyourmajor.org/privacy.

What We Collect

  • First name — collected at the start of the quiz, used to personalize the report.
  • Quiz answers — dealbreakers, strengths, subjects of interest, values, and the "world problem" question — used only to generate the student's major recommendations.
  • Email address — collected so the student's report can be delivered, and so a copy can be sent by email if requested.

We do not collect date of birth, home address, phone number, Social Security number, or any government ID. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising on this product.

How We Use It

Quiz answers are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate the student's personalized major report. Anthropic processes this data on our behalf to return the report content. We do not sell student data, and we do not use it for advertising or marketing to the student outside of this product.

Who Can See a Student's Report

A student's report is accessible via a private, unguessable link. Because this product is provided through the student's school, the school's counselor or administrator can also view the same report through a password-protected dashboard — the same level of access a school already has to other school-provided academic tools and records.

Third Parties Involved in Delivering This Service

  • Anthropic (Claude API) — generates the personalized report content from the student's quiz answers.
  • Resend — delivers report and notification emails.
  • Upstash — stores quiz answers, report content, and dashboard records.
  • Stripe — processes the school's license payment. Stripe never receives any student data — only the school's own billing information.

None of these providers are permitted to use student data for their own purposes outside of providing this service to us.

How Long We Keep Data

  • Report content and the private report link — kept for up to one year, then automatically deleted.
  • Dashboard records (student first name, email, and completion date) — currently kept for as long as the school's license record exists, with no automatic deletion date. A school or student may request deletion at any time (see Contact, below).

Students Under 13

This product is intended for high school students. It is not directed at, and should not be used to knowingly collect information from, children under 13. If we learn that we've inadvertently collected information from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will delete it.

School and Parent Rights

A school may request, on behalf of its students, that we delete a student's report and associated data at any time. A parent or student may also contact us directly to request their data be deleted or to ask what information we hold about them.
